What is Guild Wars Fan Fiction?
Guild Wars is a game - and according to me, the author of this particular set of stories - one of the best multiplayer fantasy-based graphical games on the market. I go there to relax and spend a quiet hour wandering the incredibly beautiful landscapes, solve quests, go into battle with friends or just shoot the breeze while dancing with pals on the boat in Lion's Arch.

These stories originally appeared on the amazing unofficial Guild Wars forum GWOnline. They are still there, actually, in the fan fiction section of the forum. However, GWO has intermittent downtime and can be slow to refresh or load. As a result, having a central location for the tales that I could pretty up and update as I edit them seemed an attractive option. In addition, not all my friends or family wish to have an account on GWO to view my writing, so this site provides them the opportunity to read without having to shuffle through a forum of stuff they are not interested in.

But I Don't Play Guild Wars. Would I Still Enjoy These Stories?
I think so. Each story has a glossary and canon section that explains the common themes and mechanics that are presented by the gaming world. However, to a very large extent, these stories are character driven and revolve around the plight of these characters, their choices and their consequences. The world is merely the canvas that these tales are painted against.

But Why Write Fan Fiction? Isn't That Kinda Lame?
No, not really. I could very well sit down and start from scratch, but the joy of doing it this way is that I can jump right in and focus on the things that interest me in a story - the characters. And I also have the added bonus of an audience that is willing to participate in the creative process. Starting with Mask of Ashekoroth, I began to incorporate volunteers - other players -in the virtual world I call home. This has doubled my fun as an author and helped me net some truly wonderful people to add to my friend's list. Talk about a bonus round.

I Do Play Guild Wars. Can I Contact You in Game?
Yes, of course. It's even okay to grumble at me if I kill a favorite character of yours. I am also open to requests to include new folks into stories. Keep in mind that once I have established who is participating in a book, I close it after so many entries just to limit the number of people I have to track and juggle. And ultimately, in the Pendaran Tales, the story is about Pendaran and his associates, so if I am required to bring in too many people at a time, I am in danger of overshadowing this fact.

Do You RP Pendaran/Is He Your Toon (and aren't you a girl)?
Yes, after Jewel of Luitha, the first story in the series, I did create a toon called Pendaran Caradec for my third and final attempt at gaining the dreaded Legendary Survivor Title. I figured since the Pen in the story did his utmost to die and failed, this was an amusing name for a character with that title (to my twisted mind). However, I do occasionally RP him for laughs. He is known to hand out pre-searing flowers to pretty ladies, flirt shamelessly, fib, make mischief, and eyeball shiny objects with intent to steal. Old habits die hard with the lad.

Can I Use Your Character Names on my Toons?
Yes. I know there is a Lemony floating around out there now. I'm not that attached to the names of characters I make up, and if I do want a name, I reserve it on a character in an empty slot. The rest are therefore, fair game. The folks whose characters appear in the story, however, may well feel differently and I can't speak for them. Just ask when in doubt.
